Want to know why / how the “don’t eat carbs after *insert random time here*” came into play?
BECAUSE IT’S ANOTHER WAY TO GET YOU INTO A CALORIE DEFICIT!!!

If you’re the kind of person who has dinner, sits down in front of the TV, and can easily smash a tub of ice cream / biscuits / cake etc, and you’re told you can’t eat carbs in the evening, then chances are you’ll eat your dinner, and be done.
Look you’ve just saved 1000calories.
If you’re the kind of person who tends to uncontrollably snack in the evenings, then putting a time restriction in place can be a good move.
Some people also don’t deal with eating late as it can interfere with their circadian rhythms.
The studies around trials with groups eating more in the morning vs late at night are fairly inconclusive at the moment, but may be ever so slightly tipped towards earlier eating.
But, basically, eating into the evening isn’t a factor that will fundamentally ruin your diet or attempt to lose weight.
